Many sleep problems arise from your body clock being out of synch.
Light is a primary trigger that tells your body when to start it's sleep cycle.
Light can be used to reset your body clock, restoring normal sleep/wake cycles.
Choosing a product
When choosing a light therapy device, there are some important things to consider:
1. Will I really use it?
Make sure it's convenient to use, something that doesn't require you to rearrange your life around it. If it's hard to use, chances are you won't.
2. Is it backed by research?
Will it work? Has it been safety tested by third-parties?
3. Can I get an effective treatment regimen?
Where can I turn for support if I have questions?
4. What if I decide light therapy is not for me?
Is there a satisfaction guarantee? A money-back policy?

Improve Your Mood

Light is nature's stimulant

The upbeat feeling you get on a bright sunny day is no accident-it's the result of light triggering our bodies to release "active" hormones, and we feel great.

Winter can be a challenge for many because the shorter days and longer nights leave us simply "light-deprived". Without the normal light stimulation, we often feel down, lethargic or sad.

Light therapy provides a natural boost that helps you feel better, increases energy and even helps you sleep. Using the right wavelength of light, you can trigger your active hormones naturally, boosting your mood and overcoming those down feelings, whatever the season.

As little as 15 minutes per day

Using light therapy fits easily into your normal daily routine. You can do it while eating breakfast, exercising or getting ready in the morning.

And depending on the type and severity of your sleep problems, you may only need to use your light for 15 minutes a day. To find out what your recommended treatment level might be, try our free Circadian Rhythm Assessment.

In our quest to bring about the best possible natural solutions, we have worked with most major research centers as well as hundreds of physicians and researchers to increase the effectiveness and awareness of light therapy. We have provided light therapy products to the National Institute of Health, NASA, Yale, the Mayo Clinic, and dozens of research institutions around the world.

Your body clock affects sleep, mood & energy

For decades, doctors have recommended light therapy for treating mood and sleep problems. This is because a center in your brain's hypothalamus (called the body clock) uses the light found in natural sunlight to regulate sleep, wake and energy cycles. If you struggle with sleep, mood or energy, your body clock may not be responding properly to normal light signals.

Our modern lifestyle is part of the problem

Our lifestyles have changed dramatically over the last several decades. We are experiencing longer workdays, and when we relax, we spend most of our leisure time indoors. In fact, studies show that adults across America are spending less than one hour outdoors each day, far less than in the past.

The problem is that the center in our brain that regulates sleep depends on signals like bright sunlight at dawn and weak sunlight at dusk to know when to tell us to wake up and go to sleep. And our lifestyles just don't allow us to get these needed signals anymore.

Each of us has an internal body clock called the Suprachaismatic Nucleus, or body clock, that regulates daily sleep/wake patterns (also known as circadian rhythm). The body clock depends on these light signals to function properly each day. When we don't get these signals, our sleep/wake patterns suffer.

Using light to reset our body clocks

Light is the most effective way to synchronize the body with the twenty-four hour day. In the early 1980's two groundbreaking studies were conducted; one study was conducted at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and another at the National Institute of Mental Health.

Both of these studies concluded that specific wavelengths, intensities and color spectrum of light, (not available in ordinary room lighting) could reset the circadian clock and create circadian balance. Since that time, numerous studies have been conducted to understand how and why light therapy works.

Light, when created in a circadian correct intensity, wavelength and color spectrum, has been clinically proven to reset the circadian clock. In addition to resetting the clock, light has a direct and positive impact by increasing brain serotonin levels.

At the same time circadian light therapy has a depressing affect on daytime melatonin. Excessive daytime melatonin has also been linked to mood, energy and sleep problems.

Backed by years of research

Over the last several decades, dozens of research and clinical studies have shown the effects and potential benefits of light therapy for helping those with sleep problems.
